The Massachusetts University that makes every other green with envy: the name alone conjures images of professors grading lessons, smoking pipes, listening to classical music, and constantly inspiring stimulating dialogue among leagues of ivy leaguers. Many believe it to be the hardest university for acceptance but the best university to enter in the world. Let’s look at the facts. The entire population consists of a small (for the US) private assembly of approximately 6,500 undergrads and 10, 000 graduate students among the greater city of Cambridge with a population of approximately 100,000 citizens. Many apply each year but only 8% of applicants ever actually make it into their first year. Average admitted scores require a nearly perfect 4.0 GPA or better, a 2250 on the SAT or 33 on the ACT. Other statistics are accounted for as well, there are always exceptions.

Once accepted tuition will cost an annual $50,000 dollars but can be significantly reduced with financial aid. They offer 35 different sports programs ranging from basketball to fencing, some with up to 6 different leagues. Their academic programs offer plenty of internship and job opportunities on campus, 43 undergraduate majors, the best graduate business school and law school in the country, over 320 clubs, the crimson newspaper, multiple magazines, multiple radio stations, a TV station, various bands (jazz, wind ensemble, Opera, Symphony Orchestra, etc), an international relations council, a Model United Nations, and the list goes on. It has hosted 8 US President graduating students, including the current Barak Obama and the previous George Bush. US News ranks it as the #1 College in the world overall but Forbes Magazine ranks it as #5. Getting accepted and joining the ranks of these ivy leaguers has been making students and parents proud before America’s independence since 1636.
