 Bars and restaurants

There are different bars and restaurants in Ottawa, so that student life in the city is very lively. When students want to eat or to have a drink, they generally go to the Byward Market or in the Elgin Street. Lots of students go to the Pier21, where there are live concerts. The Highlander Pub, which is situated Rideau Street n°115, is a good place to have a drink among your friends at anytime. Everyday at 9p.m., a glass of whisky is offered to the customers.

There are also lots of restaurants in Ottawa. If you are looking for fish-eating, you can go to the Fish Market, at York Street n°54, where there are delicious fish-based dishes. It is better to go there at midday than in the evening since it is cheaper. If you are looking for meat-eating, go to the Marble Works Steak House, situated Waller Street n°14, or to the Empire Grill, at Clarence Street n°47. Students also like to go to the Blue Cactus, at the Byward Market n°2, where they can get giant cocktails. It is also a good place to eat fajitas, enchiladas or any Mexican specialty. You can also visit the Oh... So Good, situated at York Street n°25, a restaurant which only cook desserts and where slices of cakes are very big. If you want to eat delicious pizza, you can go to the Italian restaurant Vittoria Trattoria at the William Street n°35.

Cinemas / shows

There are two cinemas in the town center. The first one is in the Rideau Center and it generally broadcasts American blockbusters, the other is at the World Exchange Plaza and has a wider range of films. A seat in the cinema costs 9CA$.

You can go to the National Arts Center where you can attend to very diverse shows (dancing, theatre, concerts...) in French and in English. The National Arts Center opens its doors two hours before the show everyday and you can buy a 9CA$ seat for the show happening happening on the very same day if you have the Buzz En Direct Card (you can get this card for free). For further details, please visit the National Arts Center's website: http://www.nac-cna.ca/en/ .
